Title: OLD JOHN, 1904
Note: According to Yeats, Old John was a small farmer, and two other watercolours in the 1904 exhibition at Clausen, Young John and Michael, depicted his sons - from Gaelic American 5 April 1904 and Hilary Pyle Jack B. Yeats, His Watercolours, Drawings and Pastels. A typed label circa 1970, indicates that this image was an illustration for a lithograph entitled Road To The West, circa 1910.
