Description: Wexford warning 1842 - Sworn signed statement from Valentine Egan, steward to Mrs Celia Rossiter Byrne of Rosemount, Wexford, describing how he was in James Howlett's Coal Yard in New Ross when a strange man told him that he had been offered 10 shillings and a good coat by James Farrell and John Kavanagh both from Bahana Carlow to shoot him. Farrell and Kavanagh had displayed "two loaded pistols, one with slugs and the other with a bullet" The lot includes a signed statement from "the strange man" Michael Heagan from Newbridge, Kildare and two signed statements, one from John Kavanagh, a prisoner in Carlow Jail and the other from James Farrell, a farmer with 10 acres in Bahana. 9 pages of manuscript. Fascinating content.
