Note: A very similar view to the present work is illustrated in Denise Ferran's book William John Leech: An Irish Painter Abroad (National Gallery of Ireland, Dublin, 1996) p122-123, no. 14 Still Evening, Concarneau. Ferran notes how, "Leech uses the thin trunks of the plane-trees to framethe boats in the harbour, resulting in a gentle landscape. It is through these small, instantaneous works that Leech's style develops."
