Description
Title: THE CATCH
Note: Born in Dublin and educated at the Royal Hibernian Academy schools, Osborne began exhibiting in 1851. From the outset he established himself as an animal painter, specialising in horses and dogs. Elected an Associate of the RHA in 1854 and a full member in 1869, he was a regular exhibitor there, earning a reputation as the prime animal portraitist of his day and winning numerous commissions around the country. His son Walter went on to become one of the pre-eminent painters of his generation.

Condition
The work has been re-lined. There are drying cracks visible throughout the work. These areas appear stable. Some surface dirt visible. Otherwise good condition.
