Description: "Don't deal with scab farmers. If you do ? " Down with scab beet growers" "Beware of beet scabs" etc. Some pictures are signed, dated and witnessed as Affidavits by Frank Beard, the professional photographer. Many with typed extracts of threatening comments or messages pasted to the rear of the photographs. The Irish Beet Crisis occured when the Beet Growers Association placed an embargo on the signing of contracts with the Irish Sugar Company. Many growers were intimidated and threatened with violence in some instances were told they or their animals would be shot. Photographs sizes mainly:
