Description: 1916 Rising Service Medal, 1917-21 War of Independence Medal with Comrac bar, 1939-46 Emergency Service Medal 26th Battalion issue with two bars, 1966 Rising Anniversary Medal, 1971 Truce Anniversary Medal, 1974 Workers Union of Ireland Jubilee Medal, all to James O'Dwyer, Irish Citizen Army along with 1939-1946 26th Battalion lapel badges (2), cap badges (2) and helmet badge, also a 1916 Frongoch carved bone cross, 1929 Catholic Emancipation badge, medal boxes of issue with President and Minister for Defence compliment slips, also photographs with picture postcard of James O'Dwyer in Citizen Army uniform, 1917 reunion in front of Liberty Hall, 1930s reunion at Croke Park by Keogh Brothers. A rare and important collection.
Note: James O'Dwyer (died 19 April 1982) served with the Irish Citizen Army at Dublin Castle and City Hall. He was captured on the second day of The Rising, was held at Ship Street Barracks, then Kilmainham and Richmond Barracks before being transported to Frongoch Camp in Wales on 8 May. He was released on 24 December 1916. He served in in the War of Independence, and in the Emergency in the 26th Battalion (veterans of 1916-21). He was an active trade unionist all his life and was awarded the Workers Union of Ireland Medal for services rendered in 1974.
