Description: Watercolour and ink, inscribed 'to Mrs George Wilson, Sept 1907', signed lower left. Shows an 'Irishman' hobbled by Convention Vote with obstacles 'Irish Council Bill and Devolution on a winding path to Home Rule. Scarce original artwork.
Note: Between 1900 and 1933, Wilson - born in County Tyrone and educated in Belfast - contributed 55 cartoons to Punch. He was the chief cartoonist for The Graphic from 1910 to 1916. He was also published in the London Opinion, The Sketch, The Star, Temple Magazine, Life, Tatler, The Passing Show and The World and Pan.
