Description
Description: Both on poles for holding by hand. Maker's stamp 'Ellis'. Thought to have been used at one of queen Victoria's visits to Ireland.The 'Maid of Erin' yellow on blue background, the latter to represent St. Patrick's colour. This design and colour was, and is still, incorporated into the UK Royal Standard. From the mid 19th century nationalists adapted the design but on a field of green. Scarce.
Condition
Very good, a few tiny holes, one pole broken in two but repairable.
