Description: London and Paris - Various Letters from Emmanuel Prince de Salm-Salm and supported by the Prince de Mession re mistaken identity involving "un irlandis" Hartendy (or O'Herlihi) condemned to death and later commuted to transportation to English colony of America.Both Emmanuel Prince de Salm-Salm and Prince de Masseran plead his innocence. Prince Salm-Salm suggests further enquiries be made at 'Malcroome near Corke'.Comprises three contemporaneous handwritten translations to English of the letters.
Note: Salm-Salm was a principality in the Holy Roman Empire, now in France Bas-Rhin. Prince Emmanuel served as captain of the Wallon Brabant Regiment in Belgium. The Prince of Masseran was later Spanish Ambassador to France in 1805; previously he served as captain of the Flemish Guardsto the King of Spain.
