Note: Published jointly by Maunsel and Co., and Elkin Mathews, London, 1907. First edition (a small number of copies appeared with a 1906 imprint, but 1907 is accepted as the year of the first edition). With twelve black and white illustrations by Yeats, the result of a commission from the Manchester Guardian in 1905 to document life in the “congested districts” in Mayo and Galway. Octavo; original blue cloth lettered in gilt and blind ruled on upper and lower boards.
