Description
Description: Bronze two edged sword with lentoid-section lanceolate blade, 16 inches (41cm) waisted hilt with T-shaped finial, 4 holes for attachment of a wooden grip. This sword is similar in design to other Class 4 swords as classified by George Eogan in 1965. Origin: Found in 1952 in silt at the side of Lough Erne near Riverside, Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh. National Museums of Northern Ireland record RS2014.17.
Condition
A few tiny chips to the blade, slight scratches from cleaning, slight repair to top of hilt, probably at the time of manufacture resulting from the mould not filling with metal correctly to top of hilt, very good, attractively framed.

Acquired from the son of the finder by the present owner.
