Note: From a folio of 58 sketches and studies.Elder brother of Andrew Nicholl, William was born in Belfast in 1794. He was engaged in business, and as an amateur enjoyed a high reptation as a landscape painter. He was a Member of the Association of artists in Belfast. He exhibited once at the Royal Hibernian Academy in 1832.
