Title: FUTURE SELF, 2017
Note: Irish born artist Robert Donald acquired an international scholarship to study Fine Art Painting at the University of Arizona and graduated with a BFA. In 1997 he relocated to San Francisco to continue his painting practice, exhibiting and selling his work to private collectors. During this time, he maintained his presence in Ireland and held his first solo exhibition at the Gerald Davis Gallery, Dublin in 2003 at which point his work was acquired by Department of Public Works and subsequently at the Cross Gallery in 2008. Over the years his work has been exhibited and well-received at a number of San Francisco galleries including the Mina Dresden Gallery, Hang Art Gallery, and Toomey Tourell Gallery. In 2018 Donald returned to Ireland and continues to work in his Dublin based studio. Donald's work taps into an eclectic range of influences searching for the essence of sublime human sensation, while predominantly rooted in an abstract expressionist style.
