Note: Poem reads,"Anno 1670, not far from Cirencester, was an apparition; being demanded whether a good spirit or a bad? returned no answer, but disappeared with a curious perfume and most melodious twang. Mr. W. Lilly believes it was a fairy." John Aubery, Apparition, Miscellanies (1696) John Aubery (1626-1697) was an English antiquary, natural philosopher and writer. Miscellanies was a collection of twenty-one short chapters on supernatural phenomena and the occult.
