Description
Title: STUDY FOR TWO DOGS, 2011
Note: In the images Llewellyn works with he combines painting's history and techniques with images from the 1900s to the present day. These images and painting techniques, influenced by Titian to Bacon, are overlapped with each other to create a rich multi-layered experience creating a precarious balance between the past and the present leaving his audience with a sense of dislocation from a definite time and place. Llewellyn is also interested in painting the misfit in society and the private personal moments that painting's light is not normally shone on. His work is primarily a dialogue with the history of painting itself and, in particular, the figure. It does not recognise one period in painting over another. Rather, it is inspired by consistency in quality and the discovery of successful new realities in paint. Llewellyn's work has been exhibited throughout Ireland, England and Germany and is found in both private and public collections internationally. For further reading see www.llewellyn.ie
