Description
Title: HATE AND HOPE SERIES, 2000
Note: The present work relates to the artist's Hate and Hope Series and, in particular, to the later work Hope and History, 2002 (edition of 9) featured in Rowan Gillespie, Looking for Orion (O'Brien Press, Dublin 2007, p.119). The author describes how the bronze element of work "…gives a little hope, as the confinement… is split to release tension. The ring of oppression has been broken." In the later version of this work the bronze element is elevated on a tall narrow stone base. The raised bronze is intended to express a sense of hope.
We are grateful to the artist for his kind assistance in cataloguing this lot.
