Born in 1903, he was educated at Eton and Christchurch College Oxford. A confidant of such authors as James Joyce and Wyndham Lewis, he published both theirworks, including Joyce’s Pomes Penyeach and Lewis’ The Enemy of the Stars and Thirty Personalities and a Self-Portrait. During the 1930s he followed in the footsteps of Gauguin, painting in Tahiti. His daughter, the Hon.
